Grace to Get it Done

I attended Rhema Bible Training Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In my second year of training, they asked us to decide what area we felt God was calling us to – pastor, evangelist, youth/kids minister, or helps. Back then, I choose helps because I wasn’t sure how God wanted to use me. I just knew I wanted to be ready for anything he asked me to do.

We learned everything from preaching and teaching to mowing the lawn and guest hospitality. I didn’t know I would work for a church where I’d be doing everything from coordinating a 3K and planning conferences to putting up Christmas lights and instructing praise Zumba classes!!! All of it - and I do mean all of it - has required that I access the grace of God to get it done.

See, there are times in our lives when we feel like we can’t keep up, complete everything on our to do list or accomplish what our heart desires. Yet in those times there is a grace available to meet every task and challenge we face. That grace is the power of the almighty God. It’s in the tough, hard, and seemingly impossible times that we have remember what our heavenly Father said to Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” Paul was so excited to hear this news his response was “Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

We all have our infirmities, weaknesses and insufficiencies. There is some area in our lives where we feel like we just don’t have what it takes. These things can range from working through a troubled marriage, caring for a sick family member, or properly managing our finances to making good home cooked meals, losing weight or waking up on time. No matter what it is, think like Paul. Decide to look at it as a good thing because if you can’t do it on your own it means God’s power is there to do it for you!

Let’s talk about that 3K for a minute. BeYOUties showed up from age 5 – 73 and all of them loved it! It was a huge success. Little did they know right before the event started; we ran into a problem that could have been a disaster. When I figured it out, I immediately jumped into action. For a minute I was overwhelmed, and my mind tried to tell me this was going to be the worst event EVER!!!

Then, I recalled those times in my life when I felt the same way and how God showed up and empowered me with everything I needed to come out victorious. I knew if I was weak, if I didn’t have what it took to do it myself, then the power of Christ was resting on me. All I had to do was access it by faith. So, I got happy and confident on purpose. I was driving around the church in my truck turning corners on two wheels while perfecting the course and chanting GOD’S GRACE IS SUFFICIENT. You would have been proud and a bit tickled at the same time!

No matter what you are facing remember you have what it takes because you have the grace of God. His grace, His power is sufficient. It WILL get the job done. It is all you need to complete the task, meet the challenge, and overcome any obstacle in your way.

His power is resting on you right now. Put some pep in your step, a smile on your face and do the work. Get happy about it. You are about to come out victorious! And when you do, remember to give God all the glory. Thank Him for empowering you to do what you couldn’t do yourself. After all, He is a good God and an awesome Father.
