On Purpose

I love the text in Jeremiah 29:11 that reads: 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. To me this scripture is so comforting, to know God’s thoughts toward us is good and it speaks to the purpose God has for us. We all have been given a purpose in life. Knowing our purpose is of utmost importance. Knowing what God created us to be in the earth will be the driving force in our lives. God wants us to accomplish everything He has put in us and to walk out our God given authority in the earth.

I remember prior to my radical conversion to Christ… asking the question: What is my purpose? I believe we have all asked the same question at one point or another. One day God answered (not long after I asked)... It just came up in my spirit – after seeking Him regarding this matter - You are called to preach the gospel all over the world without compromise.

So for the past 21 years I have lived it and will continue to do so until I transition to glory. (Knowing and living your purpose is like you cannot see yourself doing anything else… it consumes your very being, and you are satisfied)

For some, your purpose might be in the medical field, the government, your business, a homemaker, etc. The truth is, no one can tell you what your purpose is but God. Therefore, we have to take the time with God to find out what our purpose is.

The Bible says that when we draw nigh to God, He will draw nigh to us. It also says, He that comes to God must come in faith. But we have to come to the point where we are seeking God – the Bible says: Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness [in other words His way of doing] and all these things will be added unto you. In Deut. 30:19 it says: I have put in front of you life and death, the good and the curse. So choose life so you and your children after you may live. Beloved, it is a decision we have to make to follow after God with everything that is in us. Jesus said… You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.

When we surrender our heart and our ways to God He then starts working in our lives. He orders our steps. When we align ourselves with God and His Word, we are able to start living the way He shows us in His Word and in turn live a life on purpose. We then are able to hear His voice and follow His guidance for our lives and allow Him to use us as He sees fit. So today, choose God, surrender your heart to Him. Commit your ways unto Lord and He will direct your path. Let us all be encouraged and commit to live a life on purpose in 2023.

God's BeYOUties Book Club

Part of living a life on purpose is knowing when to say yes and how to say no. Following God's plan for our lives does not mean doing what everyone else wants us to do. In order to fulfill our purpose we have to set strong biblical boundaries.

Beginning Sunday, September 24th our book club will start our last book of the year, Boundaries by Dr Henry Cloud and Dr Townsend.

We'll discuss everything during our live Book Club discussion on Saturday, November 4th. Read with us and discover how boundaries can make life better!
